DTF Printer - maintenance and precautions
1、 Printer maintenance
The core component of printer maintenance is the nozzle, and 90% of the maintenance actions are to prolong the service life of the nozzle. The expensive and consumable nozzle naturally becomes a key protection object during our use.
2、 Common main reasons that affect the lifespan of nozzles
1. Nozzle clogged
(1) Ink quality: Poor formulation of resin and raw materials will damage nozzle
(2) Nozzle scratch film during printing process
(3) Not using the machine for a long time
2. Nozzle short circuit and broken
(1) Incorrect or incomplete installation of the cable
(2) Voltage error
(3) Ink/liquid leakage to the connection of cables
3、 Maintenance method of nozzle
1. If the machine is not used for a long time, it is necessary to turn on the machine and clean the nozzle every 1-2 days, and print nozzle test to ensure the integrity of the test image. For more than 3-7 days, distilled or purified water needs to be added to cap station to moisturize the nozzle.
2. After each use of the machine, the nozzle must be reset back to the original station (i.e. the nozzle and ink pad are tightly attached)
3. Before every day printing, it is necessary to turn on the machine and wait for 1-2 minutes. After the white ink circulation and mixing, “Load ink(Manual pump)-head clean-nozzle check” ensure all color+w lines come out well before production.
4. Regularly replace ink cartridges/dampers (3 months) and filters (6 months), depending on the usage of the machine
4、 Precautions
1. 1-Every time before adding white ink to the printer, you need to shake the white ink bottle very hard, to ensure the white ink has no sediment.
2. Before printing, clean the printing platform to prevent any objects from causing eardrums and scratching the nozzle
2. Before printing, the metal clips must be pressed on both sides of the film to prevent the film from scratching the nozzle.
3. Before printing, move the film back and forth to ensure the film is well placed, flat and smooth. to prevent scratching the nozzle.
4. Before printing, you need to do “Load ink(Manual pump)-head clean-nozzle check” to see if the test lines are ok.
5. During printing, it is prohibited to touch the film with any external force (such as hands touching, wind force, etc.) to prevent the film from scratching the nozzle.
6. During printing, if any scraping nozzle problem happen, immediately stop the task and Load ink(Manual pump)-head clean-nozzle check, it problem still there, need to using head cleaner.
7. During printing, it is strictly prohibited for any external force to obstruct the printing action of the nozzle carriage. If necessary, you can press emergency stop to stop printer.
8. After printing, clean the scraper to prevent ink from accumulating, solidifying, and scratching the nozzle
9. After printing, clean the ink pad to prevent ink from accumulating, solidifying, scratching the nozzle, and corroding the ink pad.
10. After printing, the nozzle must be reset (back to ink pad) and moisturized to prevent clogging.
11. It is prohibited to use inferior ink to cause nozzle blockage
11. It is prohibited to plug or unplug the any cable/wire when printer on, it will course short circuit and broken.
12. 13. It is prohibited for any liquid to enter the nozzle wires connection, it will course short circuit and broken.
14. In thunderstorm weather, avoid using machines as much as possible, as there is a risk of broken boards and nozzles

PET film:
There are three kinds of PET film: water-based film, oil-based film, and 3-in-1 film,
The membrane has four layers:
1. Base course (bottom film)
2. Electrostatic layer: prevent the powder from sticking to the side after shaking
3. Ink absorbing layer: prevent ink from flowing everywhere when it is not dry after printing
4. Release layer: for better tearing after high temperature pressing
About the ink:
The raw resin we use is Mitsui resin
There are two kinds of Mitsui resins in Japan (MUTSUI): 1. The ones produced in Japan are more expensive, 2. The ones produced in Thailand are cheaper, but the quality is not as good as those produced in Japan.
Resin content: more than 20%. If the resin content is not enough, it will affect color fastness, abrasion resistance, friction and tensile strength
The ink will be layered after being put for a long time, with water and color paste on the top and resin on the bottom. So shake up the ink before use
Hot melt powder:
(1) Melting range (melting point): 115-130 ℃
(2) Ingredients: TPU (polyurethane)
(3) Washing resistance grade (GB 5 is the best): 40 ℃ water washing grade 4, 60 ℃ water washing grade 4, dry cleaning and drying grade 4
(4) Pressing condition: Time: 8-15 seconds Temperature: 120-165 Pressure: 2-4KG
(5) Anti-static, anti-oil, good elasticity, tensile resistance, strong washing fastness, normal drying without cracking (for washing machine with drying function)
